The “unbelievably difficult” acting you should never criticise in front of Margot Robbie: “It irritates me so much”

Beginning her acting career on the hit show ‘Neighbours’ in 2008, actor Margot Robbie is looking to become one of contemporary cinema’s greatest stars. Robbie came from the rural town of Dalby in Queensland, Australia, moving to America in 2010. Following a run of indie film and TV appearances, Robbie landed her feature film debut in Richard Curtis’s romantic comedy ‘About Time’ in 2013.
The film received critical acclaim, with most praise directed towards its performances. However, Robbie’s magnetic and brilliant performance in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ threw the upcoming starlet into global stardom. Robbie played Naomi Lapaglia, the feisty and confident wife of Leonardo DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort. The film achieved mass critical and commercial success, with Robbie effortlessly capturing audiences’ hearts. It was only up from here.
Robbie then appeared in more comedy dramas such as ‘Focus’ and ‘Suite Française’, only generating more public attention and admiration with every screen appearance. After playing Jane in David Yates’s ‘The Adventures of Tarzan’, Robbie became the first to portray a live-action rendition of DC’s Harley Quinn in ‘Suicide Squad’. The actor gave her absolute commitment to the part to make up for never reading the original comics, engaging in gymnastics and boxing training to do the part justice. Despite mixed reviews, Robbie shone as the film’s prime asset, later reprising her role as Quinn in the 2020 spin-off ‘Birds of Prey’.
Robbie is one of Hollywood’s most glamorous and promising stars. She impressed audiences and critics by avoiding the tedious “blonde bombshell” mould that has attempted to restrict female actors before her, instead continuing to exhibit her talent through an impressive range of performances in blockbusters and independent works. The actor has already gathered several accolades during her career, including Golden Globe and British Film Awards nominations.
Robbie is also set to play the first live-action version of the iconic toy doll Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s upcoming film. The star also dedicates time to advocating for equal rights and pay in filmmaking and promoting women in all areas of the film industry. Robbie is one of Hollywood’s most beloved and talented modern stars.
