The perfect love song playlist, according to Haim
Romantic classics…
Haim was formed by sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim in 2007. Together, they had grown up playing instruments at their family home in California and regularly played at local community events as children before officially beginning life as Haim.
For the first few years of their career, Haim was going nowhere fast and honed their artistry by playing empty bars in Los Angeles. Danielle also worked as a session musician for Jenny Lewis and The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas during this time. However, she gave it all up to focus on Haim, with a renewed hunger for them to succeed.
The following year, they released their debut EP, Forever, as a free download on their website, which caught mass attention. Polydor Records subsequently signed the group after a performance at SXSW and their debut album, Days Are Gone, was released in 2013. The LP topped the album charts in Britain and has sold over 200,000 copies.
Their second album, Something to Tell You, was released four years later, but they kept busy touring between the two records and supported Taylor Swift on ‘The 1989 World Tour’. The tour with Swift helped the group build a relationship with the singer, and they later collaborated on ‘Gasoline’ and the Evermore album track, ‘No Body, No Crime’.
In 2020, Haim shared their third record, Women In Music Pt. III, which was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys. It became their second album to top the chart in the United Kingdom and has since been certified silver by the BPI.
The Californian trio’s musical success has taken them to The Tonight Show, Saturday Night Live, and festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury. They have also supported Vampire Weekend, Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Killers. Besides music, Alana Haim starred in the Paul Thomas Anderson film Licorice Pizza and has carved out an impressive acting career.
After their not-so-secret set was finally confirmed, girl-power group Haim provided a blissful rendition of their comeback single ‘Relationship’ for the crowd at Glastonbury Festival.…
