Billie Eilish was born in California in 2001 to parents Patrick O’Connell and Maggie Baird. Both played an integral role in Eilish falling into the path of music artistry, a contributing factor as to why the singer became the youngest headliner of Glastonbury in the festival’s history.
Along with her brother, Finneas, Eilish was homeschooled with their parents promoting artistry and creative freedom. Her career first got underway in 2015 when she asked Finneas to create a piece of music that she needed to choreograph for her dance class. O’Connell fulfilled her wishes by giving her ‘Ocean Eyes’, but he felt she should add her voice to the recording because it was more suitable than his. For ease, Eilish put the recording on SoundCloud so it could be accessed easily by her teacher, and the track went viral.
After capturing the attention of the music industry, Eilish signed to Interscope and released her debut EP, ‘Don’t Smile At Me’, in 2017. She gradually continued to release music, including the hit singles, ‘You Should See Me In A Crown’, ‘Bury A Friend’ and ‘Bad Guy’.
Eventually, Eilish’s debut album, ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ arrived in 2019 and made Eilish the youngest female solo artist to score a number-one album in the United Kingdom. Eilish released her second album, ‘Happier Than Ever’, in 2021, which was also a worldwide smash hit. It included the singles, ‘Therefore I Am’, ‘NDA’ and ‘Male Fantasy’.
Furthermore, she returned in 2022 with her two-track Guitar Songs EP.
Eilish has also publically supported the Democratic Party, and performed at their convention in 2020, where she announced her support for Joe Biden’s presidential
